What's included

Five structured, professional report formats built for the people who read them. Print-on-demand forms throughout, including the job demands worksheet.

The software prompts you to assess physical effort and the reliability of pain and disability reports at every step, with dedicated screens for competitive test performance, signs of discomfort, reasons for slowed performance, and reasons for test cessation. Consistent documentation, every evaluation.

Coefficients of variation and the grip curve calculate themselves. Normative and MTM-based tests score automatically. No more searching for test administration manuals.

Support for the excellent clinician who is not an excellent writer. Your clinic's strongest writers share their narratives with everyone else, and because each summary is tailored to its evaluation, nothing reads as canned.

Linked to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations, so job and industry descriptions are available instantly without leaving the evaluation.

Administer each test on its own or in concert with others. Need only a musculoskeletal evaluation? Use that section of the software and print the report.

Activity timers and test-sensitive stopwatches are part of the evaluation flow, not a separate device on the bench.

Perform repeat testing to document change over time, and build special-request evaluations from the tools that match the referral, or from a protocol designed for you and your colleagues.

System Specifications for Use with Matheson FCE v3.5

Recommended: Windows 11 with at least 8 GB of RAM. Older systems below are still supported, but Windows 11 gives the smoothest experience.

  • 32-bit or 64-bit systems.
  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10 (version 21H2 or later), all processors except Celerons.
  • Windows Server 2003.
  • Windows Server 2008 and Windows Azure with additional software.
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 with additional software.
  • Mac Leopard or newer with either Parallels or WineBottler loaded, using SMB for database connections.
  • Linux with additional software and SMB for database.
  • 2 GB RAM minimum.
  • 4 GB is ideal and preferred.
  • 8 GB for Windows 11.
  • 300 MB disk space.
  • Screen resolution should NOT exceed 1600 x 900.
  • All reports are generated in .RTF format and can be opened by MS Word, LibreOffice, or OpenOffice, which are required on the system before setup.
  • MacAfee virus scan or any MacAfee product must be disabled during installation only, as they block the Visual Basic scripting used to send data from the FCE software to the SQL Server database. It's safe to re-enable it once installation is complete.
  • As of Windows 10 version 22H2, Microsoft no longer includes .NET Framework 3.5 as part of the OS. It needs to be installed BEFORE the FCE software, with a reboot after installation completes.
  • All installations of the FCE software require the end user to have local admin rights. This is per SQL Server rules.
  • Those with Group Policy can add the FCE software, Word, and SQL Server to the admin rules for end users of the FCE software.
  • Internet connectivity needs to be present only for licensing and support. We use remote admin software (Splashtop) to perform both the software installation and to work on any issues.

Malware, spyware, and virus scanners being up to date will help avoid any damage to the program or database.

Warning: Adobe product updates include an optional bundled copy of MacAfee. Make sure to uncheck that box during any Adobe update, or it will disable the scripting the FCE software uses to send data to the SQL Server database.

All accounts payable balances must be paid before any installation of the FCE software can be performed, unless pre-authorized by Matheson management.

Installation and support tasks cannot be performed without your company's accounts payable contact information. This must include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Direct line phone number
  • A purchase order number, if your company uses this method as a means of authorizing payment for services rendered or purchase of any kind.

No FCE software installation or IT support can begin without this information.

Network error: Usually caused by a recent Windows update. Check your services and make sure SQL Server Browser is set to Automatic start, and that the SQL Server Agent (RMA) is also set to Automatic. You can start the Browser service manually; RMA will start on its own when FCE launches.

“Not enough system memory to complete the insert statement”: This means there isn't enough memory available to complete the task. Close other running programs and try again; a reboot may be necessary.

Printing issues: Can result from an update that corrupted the richtx32.dll file used to send data to the print spooler. Replace the file with the original (available at dllfiles.com) and reboot.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE TAKE NOTE

Once the FCE software has been installed, changes to any of the following will result in damage to either the program itself or to the user's FCE database. Any support related to these changes will be a chargeable event to the customer.

  1. Name changes to either the user or the computer.
  2. Names of the FCE backup or output folders.
  3. End user admin status MUST remain in place.
  4. Quotation marks entered into any field other than the comments box: this can erase the database.

Should any of these occur, a reinstall of the software is necessary and there will be a charge for this.
